From flamboyant somersaults and swan dives to flailing limbs or tucked
knees, the jumps these young people make from the harbour wall are often
a reflection of their fun personalities. These teenage years are formative
ones, lifetime bonds forged by facing fears together, camaraderie from
the adrenaline fuelled thrill of the drop.
And while the innocence of youth plays on, military helicopters fly past,
a reminder that all is not well in the world. The airborne bonds between
those willing to fight for our lives were forged during hard training
and deadly battle, building trust and loyalty in each other that may one
day keep them from dying before their natural time.
Only a few years earlier, they may have been teenagers too. Perhaps some
still are.
