Long empty rows of steps, like a stadium's seatless terraces, lead down to the beach, where prints of footwear, feet and paws trace memories of the day.

The running, the jumping, the chasing, the lazy walk with sand between the toes... that noise of activity now lost to the wind as the distant crashing waves rhythmically sound their return to wipe the surface anew.

And on that warm evening breeze, the call from afar... it's time to go.

The figure wears a "class of 22" hoodie. It is something given as a gift for school leavers that includes the names of classmates printed within the large year number on the back, a sentimental keepsake to remind them of their formative school years and the friends they grew up with. They also hold a bucket, the type used to build sandcastles. It blends with the sand, disappearing... a symbolic fading of childhood.

With the long shadows from the setting sun, the weathering of the concrete steps, and the tracks of water etched into the sand over time, it signals the end of an era.

There will be trepidation for some, for the unknown challenges still to come.
