Only sixteen copies made up the first printing run of the soft cover version
of I.
The photobook is now on its 2nd
printing and there is also a limited availability special leatherette
hard cover version.
I created the soft cover version of I
to be a worthy alternative to the leatherette hard cover version. As the
images contained within are so meaningful to me it was important their
presentation was of excellent quality. However, I also wanted to make
it affordable to as many people as possible and I feel satisfied I've
achieved that.
GREIG CLIFFORD - I
- soft cover version.
The first thing you'll notice when handling this first printing book is
the feel of it... it has a soft to the touch laminated cover that to my
mind creates a very slight suede feel. This helps protect the cover from
fingerprints, but additionally I think (hope), like suede, it will take
on a look that is unique to each owner depending on how it has been handled
throughout its life.
Front cover.
The cover uses a heavyweight paper so is not flimsy, and the inner pages
are thick enough so each image can be enjoyed without being affected by
the image on the reverse of the page.
Looking inside.
Copying the leatherette hard cover version, each image is presented the
same way with minimal distraction... just a thin border with the title
and year created written underneath. In fact all images are printed at
the same sizes as the leatherette hard cover version, in the same order,
over the same number of pages... 71 images in total. Both versions of
the book are sized 21 x 21cm.
Page shine and texture detail.
The inner pages have a slight sheen to them and are of a neutral white
base tone. The print itself does not have a high shine so the overall
effect is that of a smooth semi-matt finish.
As previously mentioned, the cover has a soft touch lamination so it reflects
light in quite a subtle way too.
