Mammothfest has proven itself each year with its ethos that to be a
great festival there needs to be great bands throughout the whole event,
from headliners to opening acts too. The 2016 line-up is packed full
of gems of the underground UK Metal scene to check out, not yet as widely
known as the headliners, but equally worthy of your time to see. Kudos
to Mammothfest for championing these guys. Many are local Brighton talent
who are now making serious waves in the UK and beyond. Here are a few
such bands that I highly recommend checking if you haven't already,
and a couple of my favourite bigger bands to see that are always worth
a ticket.
Day tickets, weekend tickets and all Mammothfest info can be found at

poster below.
1: TEXTURES
Textures headline the Progressive Metal stage at The Haunt on day 1
(Sept 30th). Expect heavyweight riffing, stunning musicality and an
intense, atmospheric live show.
2. HEART OF A COWARD
Heart Of A Coward bring a bludgeoning Hardcore edge to their groove-heavy
tech-Metal sound, and a show that's big on energy to match.
3.
THE FIVE HUNDRED
Highly impressive at last year's Mammothfest and on tour this year with
Brutai. With a fantastic debut EP 'Winters', The Five Hundred have the
makings of something rather special.
4.
KING LEVIATHAN
This power Metal four piece slam elements of Black and Death against
a solid wall of old-school Thrash to stunning effect. Great vocals,
well crafted solos, incredibly tight musicianship... mark your face
with the black cross and don't miss their next black mass... WORSHIP
THE OLD GODS!
5.
HELL PUPPETS
WARNING! A Hell Puppets gig is likely to leave you thoroughly disturbed
with a feeling of being more than just a little 'used' afterwards. Filthy
Horror-Punk at it's finest!
6.
KING GOAT
Huge slabs of Doom-laden hypnotic grooves and a room full of smoke (mainly
from the incense sticks) create the perfect atmosphere for which to
hear that simply stunning vocal.
7.
CONJURER
Conjurer played Mammothfest 2015 and were absolutely mind blowing. Riffs
served up by the tonnage with roars and screams to match.
8.
BLEED AGAIN
Hook-fueled contemporary Metal played as it should be with grit, passion
and energy. These guys know how to get a crowd moving so expect much
sweat!
9.
MAGNA CARTA
Magna Carta are still in their infancy as a band but already they have
shown huge promise for big things at some absolutely incendiary shows
around the South Coast.
These
are just a few of the many great bands on the line-up, chosen because
I have seen them before (obviously, I took the photos!) and so can recommend
from experience.
Do check out the Black Metal stage with Eastern Front headlining the
first night at Green Door Store and The Infernal Sea playing earlier,
who I have heard a lot of good things about. I'm also particularly looking
forward to Venom Inc. headlining day 2 at Concorde 2. I have not seen
them before but of course the music is legendary and historically influencial
in the development of the extreme Metal genres. Always learn and respect
Metal history, peeps!
