Palm Reader

From a photography point of view Palm Reader are one of those bands that will give you lots of chances for interesting shots. They are certainly not one of those bands that just stand in the same place doing the same movements for the whole set. It's always good to catch bands like this relatively early in their careers because the security pits tend to be clear. Once the band starts to play bigger gigs security pits can get completely rammed for these sorts of bands with photographers trying to catch that 'iconic' shot. The most filled up pits I've ever photographed in were for The Chariot, Feed The Rhino, While She Sleeps, and Touche Amore. In fact on two seperate occasions photographing a Feed The Rhino gig the photographers have been removed from the pit "for our own safety"!

These photos were taken when Palm Reader were the opening band on the Rock Sound Impericon Exposure Tour. Other bands playing were We Came As Romans, The Color Morale, and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! Click the band names to see shots from their sets. I wrote a review of the evening for Pure Rawk which can be seen here.

Palm Reader

From a musical point of view Palm Reader are in my opinion one of the best newer bands doing the Metalcore / Hardcore thing right now. Their debut album came out last year to great reviews. It's called "Bad Weather" and it's well worthy of a place in the record collection. It's dynamic and inventive without losing it's musical focus. The songs have an immediacy about them but will grow on you with each further listen too. For a taster there's a free download of the track "Noble Host" on the band's bandcamp page.

You can see them playing live at Hevy Fest this year and the band will also be touring across the UK with Protest The Hero in November. Tickets for that are available here.
