Hot Milk describe themselves as an Emo Powerpop band. As descriptions
go I can't think of a better one that's more succinct. A guitar band
that creates radio ready pop-rock with a skate-punk vibe playing songs
about love and relationships. The songs are catchy little earworms,
with bang up to date production values, played with confidence and personality.
Vocals and guitars are shared by a charismatic male and female front-duo
of Jim Shaw and Han(nah) Mee. It's a fresh look to an otherwise tried
and tested musical formula, with quality songwriting strong enough to
stand out and excite a scene threatening a mainstream rejuvination.
To say Hot Milk have all the elements to break big would be an understatement.
Despite being a new band, just a little over a year or so old, they
have already played big stages, toured Europe with You Me At Six and
the UK/Ireland with Deaf Havana. They are guests of the Foo Fighters
later this Summer and have slots at Download festival and Reading &
Leeds too, so I was glad of the opportunity to catch a few shots at
their recent more cosy Great Escape shows, these ones coming from their
second gig at Casablancas...
Hot Milk's debut EP Are You Feeling Alive has just been released.
